{"id":154,"date":"2011-09-27T10:53:35","date_gmt":"2011-09-27T10:53:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/archaeology.sa\/?p=154"},"modified":"2013-06-26T10:38:52","modified_gmt":"2013-06-26T10:38:52","slug":"for-sale-world%e2%80%99s-oldest-working-car-127-years-old","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.archaeology.sa\/en\/?p=154","title":{"rendered":"For Sale: World\u2019s Oldest Working Car, 127 Years Old"},"content":{"rendered":"<div align=\"justify\"><img alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.archaeologic.net\/\/uploads\/img_i1198_oldcar1.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/>A\u00a0127-year-old steam-powered car will be auctioned off for millions in Hershey, Pa., on Oct. 6, by the automotive auction house RM Auctions.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The 1884 De Dion-Bouton Et Trepardoux Dos-A-Dos Steam Runabout is the world\u2019s oldest car that is still running and drivable.<\/p>\n<p>Built for the French Count de Dion in 1881 and later nicknamed \u201cLa Marquise,\u201d the steam-powered car is only nine feet long and weighs 2,100 pounds.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Confirmed by the leading historians as the \u201cworld\u2019s oldest running motor car,\u201d La Marquise is one of the most important motor cars in the world, said Rob Myers of\u00a0RM Auctions in\u00a0his<\/p>\n<p>The little quadricycle \u201ccan claim to be the first family car, despite its arcane power source,\u201d according to RM Auctions. \u201cIt has four wheels, four seats and can be driven by one person &#8212; \u00a0like a modern car.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;just four owners\u2019 old&#8221; vintage car also participated in the world&#8217;s first automobile race in 1895.
