They are demanding that payments be cancelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Protesters said that they can\u2019t work and don\u2019t have the money to pay rent, but landlords aren\u2019t letting up on payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several organizations joined the protest, asking for rates to be frozen and to prevent landlords from recouping losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPeople who have lost their jobs don\u2019t have the money now they won\u2019t have 3 months worth down the line,\u201d said Lia Ferrante, member of the Socialism and Liberation Party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the protesters are asking for zero debt accumulation to landlords and banks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vice President of the Homes and Property Company says rent strikes are illegal, advising renters to use funds from SNAP programs, unemployment, and the PPP program to pay whatever they can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABC57<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-background has-pale-cyan-blue-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-background-color\"><strong>By: Sylvia Rose<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PHILADELPHIA \u2013 The Philadelphia Museum of Art became a scene of protest April 25 as demonstrators said they couldn\u2019t pay rent.
