كيتو (الإكوادور) – وكالات
ارتفع عدد ضحايا الزلزال الذي ضرب الإكوادور مساء السبت، إلى 233 قتيلا و1500 جريح، بحسب حصيلة جديدة أعلنها الأحد الرئيس رافائيل كوريا الذي قطع زيارته لإيطاليا وعاد إلى بلاده على عجل.
وضرب الزلزال الذي بلغت شدته 7.8 درجة قبالة ساحل الإكوادور في ساعة متأخرة من مساء السبت، وذلك حسب ما قال مركز المحيط الهادي للتحذير من موجات المد العملاقة “تسونامي”، مشيراً إلى احتمال حدوث موجات خطيرة على امتداد سواحل الإكوادور وكولومبيا.
وقال مركز التحذير من موجات “تسونامي”: “من المحتمل حدوث موجات تسونامي خطيرة جراء هذا الزلزال في نطاق 300 كيلومتر من مركزه بمحاذاة سواحل الإكوادور وكولومبيا”.
وحدد مركز الزلزال قبالة ساحل الإكوادور مباشرة على بعد 173 كيلومترا شمال غربي العاصمة الإكوادورية كيتو، وعلى عمق 19 كيلومترا.
وشعر المواطنون بالزلزال بشكل قوي في العاصمة كيتو، ما أدى إلى خروج السكان المذعورين إلى الشوارع خوفاً من احتمال حدوث توابع للزلزال. وقال سكان في كيتو إن خدمة الكهرباء والهاتف انقطعت.
